The President of South Korea tied his country’s security to the US nuclear umbrella

Pak Sahafat – In an interview with CNN,  President of South Korea Yoon Sook-yul said that in the event of a possible security threat from Pyongyang, he wants not only missile aid but also the US nuclear umbrella and the Biden government for his country.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency on Tuesday, CNN reported: The South Korean president, who has been in office for just two weeks, has previously served as a judicial newcomer to politics.

CNN added: During his campaign, Eun stressed the importance of a security alliance with the United States and called for stronger military ties with the United States.

He is opposed to former South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who has sought to expand dialogue and reconcile peacefully with Pyongyang.

The American video media further reported: In an interview on Monday (June 2, 1401), he emphasized that Seoul’s new approach is purely defensive; said; “Regular military exercises are one of the primary tasks of any army in preparation for the world.

The South Korean president added in the interview: In the event of an attack on South Korea, the United States would have to provide assistance, including missile defense and its “nuclear umbrella.” However, he ruled out the possibility of re-establishing nuclear tactical weapons on the Korean Peninsula.

The era of appeasement with North Korea is over

CNN wrote about another part of this exclusive interview: The South Korean president said in the interview that the period of appeasement with North Korea is over and any new talks between Seoul and Pyongyang should be started by North Korean leader Kim Jong UN.

The South Korean president told CNN: I think the ball is in “Kim’s boss” pitch, it’s his choice to start negotiations with us.

The Los Angeles Times, meanwhile, wrote about the press conference: The US president’s optimistic remarks came during a joint news conference with new South Korean President Eun Suk-yul as both leaders expressed concern about Pyongyang’s provocative actions.
