US officials react strongly to Trump’s new scandal

The revelation of Donald Trump’s conversation with Georgia’s Secretary of State to overturn Joe Biden’s vote in the Washington Post has sparked a wave of outrage and reaction from US officials, some of whom have called for the president to resign as soon as possible.

The Washington Post on Sunday night revealed that Trump had recently contacted Georgian officials to change the state’s 2020 election vote.

According to the Washington Post, based on the audiotape they received, in these talks, Trump is asking Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to find a way to reduce his gap of more than 11,000 votes with Biden.

“The people of Georgia and the country are angry, and there is no problem if you say that the recount has changed the election results,” Trump said.

Trump goes on to emphasize that the only thing I want is to coordinate 11,780 vote, we have won the election in Georgia.

Following the revelation of this conversation, several US officials have so far taken a hard line on Trump’s attempt.

Kamla Harris

Vice president of Biden, Kamla Harris said: Trump’s phone call to Georgia’s secretary of state shows the president’s “voice of despair.”

Harris added: “This conversation is certainly a voice of despair, the abuse of power by the president is clearly seen in this conversation.

Alexandria Occasio Cortez

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, a Democratic member of the US House of Representatives, said: He thinks Trump’s call and pressure on Georgia’s secretary of state to reverse his defeat in the state is a crime that deserves impeachment.

Hang Johnson

Georgia Democrat Hong Johnson has announced that he will raise the issue of Trump‘s talk of canceling the vote in Georgia in the House of Representatives on Monday.

He called Trump’s conversation with the state secretary of Georgia a violation of state and federal law.

Adam Kinsinger

Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger tweeted that Trump‘s call for Biden to be ousted in Georgia was “terrifying.”

He wrote: “From the point of view of any member of Congress who protests the election results, this conversation is absolutely horrible, you can not ignore it with a clear conscience.”

Biden Consultant

Biden’s senior adviser, Bob Bauer, said in a statement that Trump’s conversation with Georgia’s secretary of state was a testament to the president’s disgraceful attack on American democracy.

Bernie Sanders

“You will no longer be president,” Bernie Sanders said Sunday night in response to a Washington Post report on Trump’s latest attempt to change the ballot in Georgia.

The Democratic senator wrote in a Twitter message: No Donald Trump! There is no vote to find your victory. The American people have made their choice, and at 12:01 pm on January 20, you will no longer be president.
