Sarkozy: America is using Ukraine to weaken Europe

Pak Sahafat – The former president of France Nicolas Sarkozy strongly criticized the possible joining of Ukraine to the European Union and NATO, saying that this action will not bring peace to Europe and weaken the independence of this continent.

According to Pak Sahafat news agency, quoting Rashatoudi, Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, reiterating his call for compromise and peace between Moscow and Kiev, said that if Ukraine joins the European Union, then the American influence on Europe will increase drastically and the independence of the green continent will be lost.

Pointing out that the war in Ukraine has already claimed the lives of about half a million people, mostly Ukrainians, Sarkozy said: But we continue (with military aid) because those sitting on Boulevard Saint-Germain are so brave about sending Ukrainian youth to their deaths! (Sarkozy is referring to Boulevard Saint-Germain, a street that has gained a reputation for itself due to political debates between French intellectuals.)

Refusing to call Russia an “aggressor” in the war, the former French president said that According to him, the accession of Ukraine to NATO and the European Union, which Kiev has been seeking for years, will not lead to peace, because he believes that “if you bring Ukraine to Europe, you will strengthen the Americans, because the countries of Eastern Europe are dominated by Washington.”

According to Sarkozy, although Ukraine, due to its strong dependence on Washington’s military aid, basically expresses the wishes and opinions of the United States, but this does not apply to the relations between Washington and Paris. He emphasized: France has a unique opinion and approach and does not adapt itself to American interests.

Despite emphasizing his request for France’s support for Ukraine, Sarkozy said that in his opinion, Ukraine should eventually receive a security guarantee from the West, but should remain neutral and continue to act as a “bridge between the world of Russia and us”.

The former president of Russia stated: We cannot fuel the war simply by saying “more weapons, more killing, and more resistance”; how are you going to get yourself out of it?

He claimed that the war in Ukraine is only for the benefit of China; According to him, the country gained influence with “flattery of its partners in the BRICS economic group” and the US also benefits from the war by selling weapons and supplying natural gas at higher prices.

Sarkozy said last week that in any peace agreement with Moscow, Crimea should be recognized as part of this country; A comment that angered Kiev. Mykhailo Podoliak, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, described the proposal as “criminal” and accused Sarkozy of complicity in organizing “genocide and war.”
