Removal of two candidates for the post of British Prime Minister on suspicion of spying for China

Pak Sahafat – In an article, Sky News news channel, while revealing the arrest of a parliamentary investigator on charges of spying for China, announced the exclusion of two candidates for the post of British Prime Minister after MI5 warned in this regard.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report on Wednesday, this news channel wrote: Two candidates for the post of British Prime Minister were dismissed after the arrest of a parliamentary investigator accused of spying for China.

British MPs reportedly dropped two possible candidates after Britain’s domestic intelligence agency, MI5, warned that they might be spying for China.

This English news channel further added: Last year, the British Internal Intelligence Service contacted the Conservative Party and advised them that these two people should not be included in the central list of candidates.

According to the article published on the website of this network, these two people have cooperated with the United Front Work Unit (UFWD), which is a Chinese organization related to the formation of public opinion.

The news of the elimination of these two candidates has been published after the arrest of a parliamentary researcher on charges of espionage for Beijing.

The arrested researcher, who is in his second decade of life, is said to have been in contact with Security Minister Tom Tugendat, Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Alicia Cairns and other senior members of the Conservative Party of Parliament.

According to the report of Scotland Yard (London City Police), this man was arrested on March 13 in Edinburgh (the capital of Scotland).

The Sunday Times has revealed that another man, who is about 30 years old, was arrested on the same day in Oxfordshire (a city in the southeast of England).

According to reports, both people have been arrested on suspicion of committing crimes under Section 1 of the Official Secrets Act 1911; Crimes that are said to be “violating the security or interests of the state”.

The arrests of the men and accusations of spying for China are said to have led British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to confront his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang at the G20 summit in India over “unacceptable” interference in democracy.

The incident has also drawn attention to London’s stance on China, raising questions about whether it should take a tougher approach to Beijing’s government.
