Pak Sahafat – After being accused of using drugs during pregnancy, several pregnant women in Alabama have been arrested and kept in prison for months in poor conditions.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, the website of the American newspaper Independent wrote on Wednesday night, Under Alabama law, women who have a miscarriage or stillbirth and are found to have taken drugs during pregnancy can face up to 99 years in prison.

According to the Independent, Several women facing charges of drug use during pregnancy have spent weeks or months in the Etowah County Detention Center illegally.

Experts say, the policy implemented in this state is not in line with the recommendations of experts regarding maternal health.

The National Group of Defenders of Pregnant Women has tracked more than 150 cases of law violations in this city since 2010.
