Pentagon: Russia is not as dangerous to America as China

Pak Sahafat – The deputy for political affairs of the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) said on Wednesday night that Russia does not pose the same threat as China to the United States and the new world order that Washington seeks to maintain in the long term.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from Sputnik news agency, Colin Call stated in an interview: Russia does not pose a long-term challenge to America and the new world order based on rules; As China does, it is a very dangerous actor in the short term.

He added that the Pentagon’s national defense strategy classifies China as an “imminent threat” that can challenge America in some fields, including defense, technology and economy.

Call also said, however, that the strategy classifies Russia as an “acute threat,” a more immediate threat to the United States and its desired world order.

In the midst of the darkening of US-China relations due to the recent visit of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, to Taiwan, Washington does not intend to increase tensions with Beijing.

According to Cal, the US will continue to support Taiwan in accordance with historical norms.

He stated that the United States will continue to provide high-precision ammunition for Ukraine’s HIMARS multiple launch missile systems.

Currently, Washington has provided about 20 planes of this system to the Ukrainian army, each of which carries GMLRS guided missiles with a range of about 80 kilometers.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin is scheduled to announce some of the new military aid on Thursday, Call said. He is expected to discuss the situation in Ukraine and Kiev’s needs for weapons and ammunition with his allies at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
