Britain accused the Syrian government and its allies of profiting from the consequences of the war

Pak Sahafat – British Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, stating that “the people of Syria and the region are suffering from the consequences of the war,” accused the Syrian government and its allies of continuing to “profit” from this war.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, British Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations James Kariuki said on Wednesday local time (August 23) at the Security Council meeting about the political developments in Syria: While the people of Syria and the region suffer from the consequences of the war, the Syrian government and its allies continue to benefit.

This British diplomat added: The Security Council, by passing Resolution 2254, unanimously agreed on a political way out of the conflict that protects the rights of all Syrians.

The deputy representative of the United Kingdom at the United Nations attacked Bashar al-Assad’s government and said: “There has been almost no political progress in Syria.” The conditions that perpetuated the conflict, including the behavior of the Assad regime, have not changed. The complicity of the Syrian regime in the production and trafficking of captagon material is a new example of this behavior. As always, the Assad regime and its allies benefit from these actions, while the people of Syria and the region suffer the consequences.

The representative of London continued in this meeting of the UN Security Council: it is necessary that international laws are respected and that the return of refugees is voluntary, safe and dignified. The responsibility for fundamentally changing behavior and providing verifiable protection guarantees to would-be migrants, many of whom fear prosecution, must rest with the Assad regime.

This British diplomat also said: If the Syrian government wants to show that its behavior has changed, real interaction with the families of the missing and detained will be an important step towards showing a safe environment for the return of refugees.

The deputy and British ambassador to the United Nations continued: Resolution 2254 of the United Nations Security Council is the only appropriate way for a stable and comprehensive solution to the crisis in Syria.
