Biden’s promise: We will support Ukraine as long as it takes

Pak Sahafat – US President Joe Biden, saying that the Group of 7 will support Ukraine as long as it takes, promised: We will help Ukraine to create a strong and capable defense on land, air and sea.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday, standing next to the leaders of the Group of Seven and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Vilnius, Lithuania, that we will support Ukraine “as long as it takes”.

“We’ll be there for as long as it takes,” Biden promised as he announced a new security package for Kiev.

The US and other allies have promised to sign new security agreements with Ukraine that will help ensure the country’s long-term security. These agreements will be negotiated individually by countries and outside the parameters of NATO.

Biden said he spoke with Zelensky about security guarantees because Ukraine wants “long-term support going forward.”

The US president said the joint statement of support for Ukraine issued by the G7 countries “makes clear” that support for Kyiv from the world’s largest democracies “will continue long into the future”.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Vilnius after the inaugural meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, Biden added that Western countries will provide long-term commitments for security assistance to Ukraine as Ukraine moves toward full NATO membership.

He explained: This will start a process in which each of our countries and any other country willing to participate will negotiate long-term bilateral or security commitments with Ukraine. We will help Ukraine to have a strong defense on land, air and sea that will stabilize the region and act as a deterrent against any threat.

Earlier, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said: We look forward to a future with Ukraine in NATO and we will work in this direction, but we are not ready to invite Ukraine today. If today Kiev becomes a member of NATO, this means a war between NATO and America with Russia.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Wednesday local time in a conversation with the American CNN news network: Why NATO, including the United States and each of the 31 members, were not willing to accept Ukraine in this NATO meeting, the reason is actually quite clear. If Ukraine were accepted into NATO today, it would mean that NATO would be at war with Russia and America would be at war with Russia today.

The US National Security Adviser added that US President Joe Biden will be “honest” in his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO meeting in Lithuania, and after the Ukrainian leader expressed his displeasure with his country’s membership status in NATO, Biden was “careful” in his statements.
