The key word of the war in Ukraine in the election campaign of the American Republicans

Pak Sahafat – The Independent newspaper has collected and analyzed their opinions and views on the war in Ukraine, citing the speeches and positions of the candidates of the Republican Party in the presidential elections.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, doubt about the continued support of the US to Ukraine in the war with Russia, although it is in the minority among the elected leaders of the Republican Party, but so far it has been welcomed by two of the top candidates of this party, former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

A call to cut US military aid to Ukraine is becoming a test in the contentious Republican primary. The Independent newspaper has collected the opinions of the Republican Party candidates in the US presidential election about the war in Ukraine and the US position on this war, which is briefly mentioned below:

Donald Trump

The former US president and 2024 presidential candidate recently said that all aid to Ukraine should be suspended until federal agencies provide evidence of what he claims are corrupt business deals by Biden and his son. In his July speech in Pennsylvania, Trump accused Biden of dragging America into the Ukraine war game.

Trump also appeared on a Fox News TV program and said that if he comes to power, he will end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours.

Ron DeSantis

The controversial governor of Florida and Trump’s serious rival in the US presidential election had previously called the war in Ukraine a territorial dispute between the two countries Russia and Ukraine, and he had to back down from this position. He also said that in the current situation America needs to focus on energy security and control economic, cultural and military power in front of China and currently the dispute between Russia and Ukraine is not considered a priority of his country. This candidate of the Republican Party of the US presidential election has said that he supports the ceasefire because it is in everyone’s interest.

Vivek Ramaswamy

The economic activist and another young candidate of the Republican camp in the upcoming presidential elections believes that due to the relationship of the Biden family with Ukrainian economic companies, Washington supports Kiev, but the main goal of the American army is to protect the interests of this country.

Ramaswamy has said he would try to reach a deal that would offer Putin major concessions, which would mean ceding more of eastern Ukraine to Russia, lifting sanctions, closing all U.S. bases in eastern Europe and, according to the New York Times, preventing Ukraine’s entry into NATO.

This American election candidate has said that if he comes to power, he will ask Russia to end its military alliance with China and rejoin the START nuclear treaty.

Mike Pence

The former vice president of the United States traveled to this country in June to meet with Ukrainian President Zelensky. In a conversation with NBC News, Pence said that his visit to Ukraine was as an ordinary citizen, but he described the Ukrainian people as heroes against Russia.

During this trip, he said in an interview with the Ukrainian media that if he returns to America, he will talk to the people of his country to intensify their support for the people of Ukraine against Russia.

Tim Scott

The South Carolina senator supports sending military aid to Ukraine, but in an interview, he remained silent about the US action in sending cluster bombs to Ukraine. Scott also believes that the Biden administration has considered the personal interests of his family in Ukraine to support this country.

Nikki Haley

The former US ambassador to the United Nations and a candidate for the 2024 presidential election has said that supporting Ukraine is not in the interest of his country, but at the same time, in an interview with CNN, he emphasized that the victory of Ukraine is a win for all the people of America. According to Haley, the victory of Ukraine can be a message for China to get rid of the thought of invading Taiwan. He even said during a speech at the American Enterprise think tank that Biden has acted very slowly and weakly in helping Ukraine.

Chris Christie

The former governor of New Jersey also believes that the United States should support Ukraine until the war issue is fully resolved.

Christie said in an interview with CNN: “None of us like the idea that there is a war going on and we support it, but this war should be seen as a proxy war with China.” In a statement attacking Trump, Christie called him Putin’s puppet.

Doug Borgham

North Dakota’s governor has offered to support Ukraine, but wants to be accountable for every dollar of American money spent. He emphasized in an interview that Russia cannot win this war. He said that Europe should play a greater role in supporting Ukraine financially.

Asa Hutchinson

The former governor of Arkansas said on CNN last year that withdrawing funds for Ukraine in this extraordinary fight against Russia and the country’s war with Ukraine is a mistake. He said: I strongly support Ukraine. I believe they are fighting a battle that will help create a free Europe. Hutchinson believes that more American aid to Ukraine will help the country win against Russia.

Will Hurd

The former congressman from the state of Texas and the secret agent of the CIA has criticized the isolationist policies of Trump and DeSantis. In an interview with ABC, he said: It is unfortunate that Trump and DeSantis are wrong about Ukraine. I wish they would stop fighting corporate America like Disney and be more interested in supporting our allies against attacks on democracy.

Perry Johnson

The American economic activist wrote in a Twitter message that he thinks sending 100 billion dollars to Ukraine is ridiculous because America itself is facing many economic problems. He added: Joe Biden’s policies harm the American economy and the citizens of this country. He also said that he does not trust Putin.

Francis Suarez

The mayor of Miami writes in an article: The war in Ukraine is not a territorial dispute. It is a moral and geopolitical struggle between two visions of the world. He believes that in supporting Ukraine, his country is actually spending money to stand on the path of freedom and democracy.
