Western media reports of Assad’s “warm and sincere” return to the Arab League

Pak Sahafat – Western media described the reception of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by the Arab leaders as warm and sincere, and considered it a sign of Syria’s return to the group of Arab countries.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, Reuters news agency discussed the warm reception of Assad at the Arab Summit and wrote: After a long period of indifference, the Saudi Crown Prince embraced Syrian President Bashar al-Assad after years of isolation; A policy that is considered in conflict with America and other western powers.

This English media pointed out that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman shook hands with Bashar Assad at a meeting held in Jeddah, which shows a change in the hostile approach to the leader who was supported by Iran and Russia during the country’s civil war.

This news agency added: Saudi Arabia, as the oil power of the world, which was previously heavily influenced by America, played a leading role in the diplomatic approach in the Arab world last year, and while reviving relations with Iran, it welcomed the return of Syria to the group of Arab countries and also played the role of mediator in the Sudan conflict.

The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia expressed hope that the return of Syria to the Arab League will lead to the end of the crisis in this country.

Referring to the fact that Washington is against any measures to normalize relations with Assad, Reuters claims that progress must first be made in the field of a political solution to the conflict in this country, and added: Finding a political solution to the 12-year conflict in Syria has become a puzzle for Arab and Western countries.

The English newspaper Guardian, by publishing a report in this context, described the Arab countries’ reception of Bashar al-Assad as warm at the Arab Summit and wrote: Assad was warmly welcomed by Saudi Arabia in the city of Jeddah with a smile on his face. In his first speech at the Arab Summit since 2011, the President of Syria expressed hope that a new era of Arab cooperation would begin.

The Guardian described Assad’s return to the Arab League without any preconditions as a turning point in the history of the Middle East and wrote: Assad’s arrival was fully evident with the raising of Syrian flags in the streets of Jeddah.

This media added: American politicians are trying to prevent the Arab countries from returning Assad to the international community, and so far they have adopted even more radical positions than the American government in this regard.

American NBC News and the French news agency also headlined the reception of Assad at the Arab Summit by republishing the Reuters report.

In part of its report, AFP quoted a Persian Gulf source that has close relations with government circles and wrote: Americans are not satisfied with the normalization of relations with Assad. We Gulf (Persian) countries live in this region and try to solve our problems with every tool we have.

This French media noted that Assad’s return to the Arab countries is part of a wider process in the Middle East, in which countries that were previously facing each other are trying to improve their relations, which have been subject to conflict and competition for years.
