Saudi claims about Iran’s nuclear program

Pak Sahafat – While Saudi Arabia’s nuclear activities are monitored based on an outdated safeguards system, the country’s energy minister claimed that Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is a threat to world peace and stability.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, On Monday, Abdul Aziz bin Salman Al Saud, speaking at the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, asked the Director General of the Atomic Energy Agency to continue monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities within the framework of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement.

He claimed that Saudi Arabia supports the efforts of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency to resolve the remaining safeguards issues with Iran so that the country behaves in accordance with its obligations under the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement.

This official of the Saudi regime claimed that Iran’s nuclear program threatens not only world peace and stability, but also the system of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

This is despite the fact that Saudi Arabia is a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the implementation of the Comprehensive Bilateral Safeguards Agreement with the IAEA, but it still refuses to accept the IAEA’s safeguards inspections, and despite repeated requests over the years, the IAEA has not modified its obligations.

The secret actions of the Saudis in the nuclear field and not allowing the inspectors of the agency to enter, as well as its destabilizing activities in the region, have strengthened the concerns about a secret nuclear weapons program in this country.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly emphasized that the governments and the Atomic Energy Agency must make it clear to Saudi Arabia that it must accept the relevant obligations of the agency and act completely transparently.
