Pak Sahafat- In a move that experts interpret as new moves by Saudi Arabia to play a role in Syria and escape from the swamp of war with Yemen, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan met separately on Wednesday with Hans Grundberg and Geir Pedersen, UN representatives for Yemen affairs.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from the official news agency of Saudi Arabia (WAS); These meetings were held on the sidelines of the 2023 Economic Summit in Davos, Switzerland.

Ben Farhan’s meeting with Grundberg takes place while news sources are reporting the extension of the ceasefire in the coming days and in the shadow of Saudi Arabia’s surrender to Ansarullah’s demands.

Lebanon’s “Al-Akhbar” newspaper reported on Tuesday, quoting informed sources that Saudi Arabia has agreed to the demands of the negotiating team of the National Salvation Government of Yemen regarding humanitarian issues and people’s rights, including paying the salaries of Yemeni government employees and pensioners.

This newspaper added: Following this development, Sanaa and Riyadh agreed on the issue of extending the ceasefire in Yemen.

The obtained information indicates that the salaries of Yemeni employees will be paid in international currency based on the data of 2014, and these currencies will be transferred to the Yemeni capital by a special plane every month.

According to the agreement reached, the destinations of Sana’a International Airport will also be expanded and will include the countries of Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, India and Malaysia.

Also, all bans for imports to Hodeida port in the south will be lifted.

Informed sources say that a Saudi delegation led by the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al-Jaber, left for this city after the Omani mediation delegation’s trip to Sana’a and held direct negotiations with Yemen’s Ansarullah movement to complete the final tasks of the ceasefire agreement.

According to the same report, the delay in the UN special envoy Hans Grundberg’s trip to Yemen was done at Riyadh’s own request to prevent the creation of a negative atmosphere in the negotiations.

Al-Akhbar sources say that during the second trip of the Omani mediation delegation to Sana’a, this delegation met with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the National Salvation Government of Yemen, and in this meeting a map of the critical positions that the army of the National Salvation Government of Yemen can target.

In this meeting, the officials of the National Salvation Government of Yemen emphasized that they will not allow the Riyadh airport to be open, while the Sana’a airport is closed.

On the other hand, following the UAE’s approach to the government of Damascus and Saudi Arabia’s withdrawal from playing a role in Syria, Bin Farhan also met with the United Nations Special Representative in Syria, Gair Pederson, and according to the Vas report, the two sides discussed reaching a political solution for Syrian crisis discussed.
