Di Carlo praised the efforts of civil society organizations led by women and emphasized the efforts of the United Nations to support the life-saving work of these organizations.

The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations added that the widespread violations of human rights in Ukraine “have shown no mercy to children.”

He said that the aid plan for Ukraine is now only 44% funded and the United Nations supports all efforts for “lasting peace”.

A legal expert named “Rashevska” pointed out the issue of illegal transfer and guardianship of Ukrainian children at the Security Council meeting and said that these actions led to the International Criminal Court’s ruling against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He raised the issue of imposing “Russian citizenship” on Ukrainian children and noted that there is no “dual citizenship” agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

The legal expert noted that Russia, as the “occupying power” in eastern Ukraine, is obliged by international law to provide Ukrainian education to Ukrainian children.

Ms. Rashevska asked the Security Council to facilitate the return of Ukrainian children captured by Russia, noting that to date only less than 400 Ukrainian children have been returned to their country.
