UN warning about the complete destruction of Sudan

Pak Sahafat – The United Nations humanitarian aid coordinator warned that the war in Sudan has become a humanitarian emergency and the continued conflict and hunger have brought the country to the brink of complete destruction.

According to Pak Sahafat International News Agency, the United Nations has warned that war and hunger in Sudan, with the continuation of violent battles that began on April 15 between the army and the rapid support forces, threatens the country with “total destruction”.

According to the Al-Mayadeen network website, Martin Griffiths, the United Nations humanitarian aid coordinator, said: The war in Sudan is creating a humanitarian emergency of enormous proportions. This conflict, which is spreading with famine, disease and population displacement, threatens to destroy the entire country.

Before this serious global warning, the international charity Save the Children had announced that since the beginning of the conflict in Sudan, about 500 children have died of starvation.

This institute added in its report: Since April and with the beginning of the conflicts, we have had to close 57 food shops, which has resulted in 31,000 children suffering from malnutrition and other similar diseases in Sudan.

In the continuation of this report, it is stated: In 108 stores that are still working, there is a severe shortage of food and medical equipment; so that emergency reserves are used only in extreme cases.

In another part of its report, this organization drew attention to the fact that there was a lack of resources before the conflict; but the situation has worsened due to theft from food warehouses and delays in the arrival of trucks carrying food provided by the World Food Program from the borders.

Last week, the United Nations announced that the situation in this country is out of control, referring to the fact that about one million people have fled Sudan and the lack of food after four months of conflict in this country.

Conflicts in Sudan continue as the United States recently announced that it was suspending talks aimed at ending the violence in Sudan because “they have not achieved the desired success in their current form.”

During their mediation between the conflicting parties, Saudi Arabia and the United States held talks in the Saudi city of Jeddah for a ceasefire agreement between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces; however, press reports so far indicate violations and violations of the ceasefire by both sides of the conflict.

Last month, “Faisal Bin Farhan”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, in separate phone calls with “Abd al-Fattah Al-Barhan”, the commander of the Sudanese army, and “Mohammed Hamdan Daghlo” (known as Hamidti), the commander of the rapid support forces, emphasized the importance of observing the ceasefire in this country.

During those calls, Benfarhan had repeated Riyadh’s request for the return of peace to Khartoum, giving priority to national interests, the lack of severe military tension, and resorting to a political solution to establish security and stability for Sudan and its people.

With the continuation of conflicts in Sudan, on Friday, June 23, “Salva Mayardit”, the president of South Sudan, held an emergency meeting of the army and security leaders to discuss the situation in Khartoum, and ordered to close the borders with Sudan.

The fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has been ongoing for more than three months, causing destruction in the capital and widespread violence in the Darfur region of western Sudan, which has resulted in more than 2.5 million Sudanese fleeing.
