Trump demanded the disqualification of the judge in his case

Pak Sahafat – Former US President Donald Trump demanded the disqualification of Tanya Chotkan, the judge who is in charge of judging his case regarding the attempt to cancel the results of the 2020 presidential election.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, citing AFP, Trump’s lawyers submitted a request to the court on Tuesday and announced that Chotkan should be removed due to his previous statements about Trump, which indicate his bias in the case.

These lawyers wrote in their request: Judge Chutkan said about other cases that Trump should be prosecuted and imprisoned. Such statements clearly show that he should be disqualified before the investigation of the case.

They added: Although Judge Chotkan is supposed to give Trump a fair trial, and maybe he himself thinks he can do that, but his public statements, regardless of the outcome of the trial, unintentionally distort the court process.

Experts say the unusual request is unlikely to succeed because it is Chotkan who would have to step down voluntarily.

Chotkan has set early March 2024 for the start of Trump’s trial for trying to overturn the 2020 election results.

61-year-old Chotkan, who was appointed by former US President Barack Obama, has issued heavy sentences for the agents of the attack by Trump supporters on the Congress building.
