The United Nations changed the name of Turkey

Pak Sahafat – At the official request of the Turkish government, the United Nations changed the spelling and pronunciation of the country’s name in foreign languages ​​from Turkey (pronounced “Turkish”) to Türkiye (pronounced “Turkey”).

According to an Anatolian news agency report on Thursday, Pak Sahafat News Agency reported: In an interview with Turkish News Agency, UN spokesman Stefan Dojarik said that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşo Oghlu had sent a letter to the organization in foreign languages ​​regarding the renaming of the country as “Türkiye” in foreign languages.

He also said that the change of spelling and pronunciation of the Turkish name from “Turkey” to “Türkiye” has been implemented from the moment Cavusoglu’s letter was received.

Cavusoglu wrote a message on Twitter: The process we started under the presidency of “RTErdogan @” with the aim of increasing the value of our country’s brand is coming to an end.

He added: In a letter we sent to the UN Secretary-General today, we register our country’s name in the foreign languages ​​used by the organization as “Türkiye”.
