The UN Security Council is holding a meeting on artificial intelligence

Pak Sahafat – The UN Security Council plans to hold a meeting for the first time about possible threats to international peace and security.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Fox News quoted Barbara Woodward, the representative of England in the United Nations, as saying that this meeting will be held on July 18.

Experts in the field of artificial intelligence will speak at this meeting, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will also present a report.

Last month, Guterres warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence and said: We must take these warnings seriously.

He announced that he plans to form an advisory board in September.

Woodward also said the UK wanted to work together to develop a “multi-pronged approach” to managing the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence.

He added that the benefits of artificial intelligence could “bridge the gap between developing and developed countries” but its risks raise serious questions about security.

Europe has been a pioneer in creating regulations in the field of artificial intelligence, and EU lawmakers announced rules in this field in June.

Last week, more than 150 executives of various companies asked the European Union to revise these regulations because it makes it more difficult for European companies to compete with international competitors.

Such regulations will cause innovative companies to move their activities outside Europe and investors to withdraw their money from the development of artificial intelligence in Europe, they said in a letter.

They warned: The result of these regulations will be that the productivity gap on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean will become very large.
