Grundberg also announced that he had made a new proposal to the resigned Yemeni government and Ansarallah to reopen roads in Taiz and other Yemeni provinces.

Grundberg’s office announced: Negotiations with the two delegations to reach an agreement on reopening roads in Taiz and other provinces resumed on Sunday under the terms of a ceasefire agreement. Following talks with the two sides, Grundberg proposed a revised proposal for the gradual reopening of roads, including enforcement mechanism to ensure the safety and security of civilian passengers.

He said: The plan includes reopening roads, including the main line leading to Taiz and roads in other provinces, to alleviate the suffering and problems of civilians and facilitate the entry of goods. This proposal also takes into account the other proposals and concerns of both parties and the suggestions and points of civil society.

Grundberg said: ‌This is our first step to remove the restrictions on the freedom of movement of Yemenis inside the country. Both sides have a moral and political responsibility to engage seriously and promptly with the UN proposal, prioritizing the interests of civilians and achieving direct results for the people of Taiz.
