Steve Bannon, Trump’s former adviser, has been sentenced to prison

The former adviser to Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, was sentenced to four months in prison and to pay a fine of $6,500 in connection with charges of insulting the Congress.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, quoting from Rasha Todi news agency, these accusations stem from the refusal of former White House strategist Steve Bannon to provide documents or testify before the House of Representatives’ investigative committee regarding the January 6 riot in the US Congress.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols handed down the sentence on Friday, and Bannon was granted a stay of execution while he appeals. His legal team announced that they intend to do so and have two weeks to do so.

In July, Bannon was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House Select Committee.

According to the investigation committee’s announcement on January 6, Bannon spoke with him at least twice on the day that finally ended with the attack of supporters of former US President Trump on the US Congress.

Bannon was instrumental in designing Trump’s “America First” approach. This former adviser to Trump is considered one of the critics of the administration of Biden, the current president of the United States.
