Biden’s popularity drops again less than a month until the congressional elections

The results of a new survey show that while there is less than a month left until the mid-term congressional elections in November, the level of support for the performance of US President Joe Biden has decreased significantly in the past month.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report on Saturday, the Washington Times newspaper wrote: A new poll shows that Biden‘s decline in popularity has increased the pressure on Democrats ahead of the November 8 election.

A national survey conducted by Emerson College in October and the results of which were published on Friday (yesterday) shows that 53% of American voters do not approve of Biden’s performance, and Biden’s job approval rating is only 39%, which is a decrease of 6% compared to last September.

According to the results, only a quarter of voters approve of the performance of Congress, as Democrats try to maintain narrow majorities in both houses.

Pollsters said that 46 percent of voters participating in the survey said they plan to support Republicans in the congressional elections, and only 41 percent said they would vote for Democratic candidates. The worrisome issue for the Democrats is that the gap in willingness to participate in the elections was huge.

Emerson College director Spencer Kimball said in this regard: Among those who say they are almost certain that they will participate in the November elections, congressional Republicans led by 10 percent, and 51 percent of them said they were almost certain compared to 41 percent of Democrats.

Among those who said they would “probably” participate in the elections, the Democrats were in the lead with an 11% difference over the Republicans, and 45% of the Democrats compared to 34% of the Republicans said they would participate in the elections only with a possibility.

About two-thirds of voters said that America is moving in the wrong direction, and the economy was the main issue for voters, and 44% cited economic concerns, but 12% were worried about the success of the abortion law and 11% were worried about threats to democracy in their country.

The Republican candidates are mainly focused on the issue of inflation, while the Democrats focus on the issue of abortion and stress that they have taken steps to address economic concerns.

The Emerson College survey was conducted among a thousand American voters between October 18 and 19 (October 26-27) with a margin of error of 3 percent.

The American mid-term elections will be held on November 8, 2022. In this election, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 seats out of 100 seats in the Senate will be contested. At the same time, the candidates of the two Republican and Democratic parties will compete for the position of governor in 36 states of America.
