The Russian embassy in Washington, in a statement on the end of the joint US-NATO naval exercise in the Black Sea, reminded the US that peace and security in the region do not require the presence of foreign warships.
According to the Tass news agency, Russia has asked the US government to refrain from “launching an adventurous military noise” by maneuvering US warships in the Black Sea region. The request was published this morning on the official Twitter page of the Russian Embassy in Washington.
The Russian Embassy has emphasized: “We call on the US Navy to stop the adventurous military fuss in the Sea and to act in US territorial waters. Ensuring peace and security in the Black Sea region does not require the intervention of extra-regional countries.”
The statement noted: “It seems that the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet is desperate to find the enemy in the Black Sea. They are only looking for excuses, and now they are openly seeking to expand their military presence in the region under the guise of naval maneuvers.”
A statement from the Russian embassy said that two US destroyers, Porter and Donald Cook, had been released from the Sea after a joint naval operation with NATO allies in Ukraine. These maneuvers lasted 17 days.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has said that its Black Sea Fleet is closely monitoring all activities of foreign warships in the region.
