Poll Results: The financial situation of most Americans is deteriorating

Pak Sahafat – A majority of American voters say their financial situation is deteriorating amid rising inflation and fears of a recession, according to a new Harvard poll.

Hill News website wrote in a report on Tuesday local time: Fifty-six percent of those polled said the situation was “getting worse” financially. This is the highest percentage recorded in a poll. Last month, 48 percent of those polled said their financial situation was deteriorating.

Meanwhile, only 20 percent of respondents said their financial situation was improving, which is the lowest percentage.

A Harvard poll shows that concerns about the recession are growing in the United States. Nearly half of those polled – 49 percent – said they expected the United States to enter a recession next year, while another 36 percent said the country was currently in recession.

Only 16 percent said the United States would not enter a recession.

Fears of an impending recession coupled with growing financial anxiety among voters could cast a grim prospect for the midterm elections for Democrats, who are struggling to maintain their very limited majority in the House and Senate this year.

According to the poll, only 35% believe that US President Joe Biden has performed well economically.

A total of 1,963 people took part in the Harvard poll, according to which rising prices and inflation are the most important issues for voters, and 40% of them are the most important issues facing the United States.

An earlier poll by the Associated Press found that President Joe Biden’s popularity fell to its lowest point this month (May) and was the most pessimistic of Biden’s performance among Democrats.

According to the new poll, only 39% of Americans approve of Biden’s performance as president, which is lower than his level of popularity compared to last month. Overall, only 2 out of 10 Americans believe the United States is on the right track or that the economy is good, up from 3 in 10 last month.

These findings show widespread dissatisfaction in a country facing a range of challenges, including inflation, armed violence, sudden shortages of milk powder, and a persistent epidemic.
