On Monday last week, Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid announced in a joint statement that they agreed to dissolve the Knesset, according to which Yair Lapid will form a transitional cabinet until new parliamentary elections are held.

The decision came after the Naftali Bennett-Jair Lapid coalition lost a majority of seats in the Knesset, prompting the coalition cabinet to fail to pass bills in the Knesset. The decision also came amid escalating divisions and divisions among the parties participating in the coalition cabinet, which were ideologically inconsistent.
