Kissinger: Russia’s position cannot be ignored

Pak Sahafat – Senior US diplomat Richard Nixon has said that Russia is a declining country, while noting that Russia’s position cannot be ignored and that at the end of the current war, there should be a place for both Ukraine and Russia.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency on Saturday, Former United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger criticized the Russian president in an interview (June 21) with the British newspaper The Sunday Times about the Russia-Ukraine war, saying that Vladimir Putin’s problem is that “the head of state is declining and in this crisis has lost the power to recognize important and insignificant issues.”

According to him, there is no justification for what Putin did this year.

He added: The question now is how to end this war. If we do not want Russia to become China’s base in Europe, at the end of this war, Ukraine and Russia must have a place (in the world).

Kissinger, 99, had previously been criticized by Ukrainian officials for proposing that Ukraine relinquish control of Russian-occupied territories in order to reach a peace deal, and was named an accomplice to crimes against Ukraine.

He said at the Davos summit: The failure of efforts to resume Ukraine’s talks with Russia will have dire long-term consequences for stability in Europe.

The former head of US diplomacy stressed the importance of maintaining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), calling it “a reflection of US-European cooperation in an almost unique way.”

However, he added: It is important to identify the major issues that are emerging in the Middle East and Asia relations with Europe and the United States.

Kissinger said: (NATO members) united in Ukraine because (this crisis) was a reminder of (old) threats and they did well, and I support what they did.
