China’s increasing cooperation in America’s backyard; The Embassy of Honduras was opened in Beijing

Pak Sahafat – Continuing the expansion of China’s political and economic relations with Latin American and Central American countries, which were once called Washington’s backyard, the Honduras embassy in Beijing was opened at the same time as the president of this country’s six-day visit to China.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from Global Times on Sunday, the opening ceremony of the re-opening of the embassy of Honduras was held at Beijing’s Jiangmen Diplomatic Center at 11 am local time. In this ceremony, Chin Gang, Minister of Foreign Affairs and advisor to the Chinese government, along with Enrique Reyna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, were present and gave speeches.

Honduran President Xiomara Castro previously announced Salvador Enrique Moncada, a famous medical researcher and pharmacist, as the country’s first ambassador to China.

The ambassador of this country emphasized in his speech that the reopening of the Honduran embassy in China has a significant impact and that this Central American country is committed to the principle of one China and is ready to cooperate with China in the field of trade and the road and belt initiative project.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China also said in this ceremony that since the establishment of diplomatic relations with Honduras, both countries have strengthened the exchange of views and interactions at all levels, and about 20 cooperation agreements have been finalized.

He further added that the reality has proven that the principle of one China is a general trend and the will of the Chinese people, and the diplomatic relations between the two countries are in accordance with the interests of the people of both countries.

The opening ceremony of the embassy took place during Enrique Castro’s 6-day visit to China. China also officially reopened its embassy in Honduras on June 5.
