Cavusoglu: The representatives of Turkey, Iran, Russia and Syria are meeting together

Pak Sahafat – The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced the meeting of representatives of Turkey, Iran, Russia and Syria in the coming days to discuss the development of a road map for the normalization of relations between Ankara and Damascus.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a conversation with the Turkish “NTV” news channel that representatives of Turkey, Syria, Russia and Iran will hold a meeting in the coming days to discuss the formulation of a roadmap to normalize relations between Ankara and Damascus.

In this regard, he added: These representatives are at the level of deputy ministers and will work to develop a road map for the process of normalizing relations. We discussed this issue during a recent phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Cavusoglu said following the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of four countries: Iran, Russia, Syria and Turkey: We agreed to prepare the infrastructure for the safe return of Syrian refugees to the areas under the control of the Syrian central government.

He stated: In the last quadrilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, Syria and Russia in Moscow, we agreed to form a commission at the level of deputy ministers and relevant institutions, and based on this, Turkey has started the necessary measures.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey added: A large part of the Syrian refugees present in Turkey want to return to their country, but this process should be done within the framework of international laws and based on the plan of Turkey as the host country and away from the margins and racist sensitivities.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey said about the sensitivity created about the issue of refugees in the Turkish elections: Although the issue of refugees and illegal immigrants, especially Syrian refugees, is important in Turkey, I do not think this sensitivity is correct.

He added: Solving the issue of refugees and illegal immigrants is on the agenda of the Turkish government and ruling party, but using this issue, especially the return of Syrian refugees, as an election promise is not correct, and this should be followed carefully.
