British Ambassador to Iraq: We welcome the Iran-Saudi Arabia dialogue

The British ambassador to Baghdad said during a meeting with Iraq’s national security adviser that London welcomes talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

According to the international group of Pak Sahafat News Agency, the British ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson Richardson, met today (Tuesday) with Qassim al-Araji, Iraq’s national security adviser in Baghdad.

According to the official Iraqi news agency (WAA), Bryson said during the meeting that Britain welcomes the ongoing talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia and hopes that these talks were held with all the Arab countries along the Persian Gulf to bring security and stability in the region.

The meeting also discussed Iraq-Britain relations and ways to develop them in the interests of the two countries, as well as the development of security and stability in the region.

Qasim al-Araji said that Iraq is interested in developing its relations with Britain and is working to expand it in all areas, especially in facilitating the issuance of passports to Iraqis entering British territory.

The meeting also discussed ways of joint Iraqi-British cooperation in the cultural and economic fields, intelligence and security cooperation in the fight against terrorism, the refugee case and the need for a successful parliamentary election in Iraq. Early Iraqi parliamentary elections are scheduled for October 9th.

The British ambassador welcomed the talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, while “Rob Mali”, the Special Representative of Iran for Foreign Affairs at the US State Department, welcomed the direct talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia and wrote on his Twitter page: “We welcome the announcement by Saudi Arabia of direct talks with the new government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We hope that the talks will alleviate tensions and address long-standing regional concerns. “A full and bilateral return to Burjam will support these regional efforts.”

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan on Sunday confirmed the talks between Riyadh and Tehran and expressed hope that the talks between the two countries would be resolved during the talks.
