Britain has demanded the suspension of Russia’s membership in the Human Rights Council

Pak Sahafat – In response to the Bucha incident in Ukraine, the British Foreign Secretary called for the suspension of Russia’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council.

According to Pak Sahafat News agency, Liz Terrace posted a message on Twitter on Monday evening claiming: Russia cannot remain a member of the UN Human Rights Council and must be suspended, given strong evidence of war crimes, including reports of mass graves and massacres in Bucha.

Traveling to Poland, she also called for new and tougher sanctions against Russia at a joint news conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, saying that Western funding was still flowing to Moscow and that the process should be stopped.

Pointing to the need to send more military equipment to Ukraine, the British Foreign Secretary stressed that austerity is the only way to respond to Russia. Terrace stating that Putin has started this war, said: “We have to make sure he’s defeated in Ukraine.” »

Earlier, Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US representative to the United Nations, said that her country intends to ask the General Assembly to suspend Russia’s membership in the Human Rights Council.

Russia is now in the second year of its three-year membership in the Geneva-based human rights body. If a two-thirds majority of the 193 member states of the United Nations General Assembly in New York agrees, one member will be suspended for perpetrating obvious and organized human rights abuses during its term.
