America’s anger at the visit of the Syrian foreign minister to Saudi Arabia / White House: We will not normalize relations

Pak Sahafat – The United States, which is angry with the normalization of Damascus’ relations with the regional and Arab countries, after the visit of the Syrian Foreign Minister to Saudi Arabia after 12 years, warned that its sanctions against the government of Bashar al-Assad remain and will not normalize its relations with this country.

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad traveled to Jeddah on Wednesday after 12 years of cutting relations between Damascus and Riyadh and met and discussed with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, a spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs told reporters in response to this trip: Countries should receive “tangible results” from this normalization of relations with Syria, which will improve the humanitarian and security situation for the Syrian people, and at the same time put pressure on the Syrian government to cooperate in the political process of this country based on the UN resolutions.

A White House National Security Council official also told the media: Our position is clear: we will not normalize relations with the Assad regime without real progress towards a political solution to the main conflict.

This official of the National Security Council of the Biden government claimed that the United States has emphasized to the Arab countries that are in contact with the Syrian government that credible steps to improve the humanitarian and security situation of Syrians should be at the center of every interaction.

This White House official added: We have also clearly stated that the main structure of our sanctions against Syria remains in force.

This American newspaper wrote that the head of the CIA told Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, that America is surprised and shocked by Riyadh’s reconciliation and restoration of good relations with Iran and Syria, which are still under severe Western sanctions.

According to WAS, the focus of the Miqdad consultations; The discussion is about the efforts made to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis, facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to their land, and also guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid to the affected areas in Syria.

After the terrible earthquake of seven and eight tenths on the Richter scale in northwestern Syria (and southern Turkey) which caused a lot of damage, the aid of some countries of the world has been opened to Syria.

Countries like Qatar also closed the office of the Syrian opposition in Doha, and Riyadh showed its green light to establish relations and remove ambiguities with Damascus. Turkey has repeatedly announced in the past few months that it wants to establish relations with Syria.

This process was welcomed by countries friendly to Syria and resistance groups in the region and opposed by Washington and Tel Aviv; because establishing peace and friendship in the region is not in the interest of Washington and Tel Aviv and they want insecurity and instability in Syria and the region to continue their illegal presence.
