Pakistan addressed to the Swedish government: Stop Islamophobic actions

Pak Sahafat – Pakistan strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and demanded from the authorities of this country to prevent Islamophobic actions and respect the feelings of the Muslims of the world.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement and announced that Islamabad has conveyed its serious concerns to the Swedish authorities and we ask them to take care of the feelings of the Pakistani people and Muslims around the world and take steps to prevent Islamophobic actions.

The statement states: The international community must show a common resolve against Islamophobia, xenophobia, intolerance and incitement to violence based on religion or belief and work together to promote interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan strongly condemned the insult to the Holy Quran in Sweden and added: This is a senseless and provocative act that hurts the religious sentiments of more than one and a half billion Muslims around the world. Such actions under no circumstances express the right to freedom of speech or opinion, which according to international human rights laws have responsibilities such as not to utter hate speech and incite people to violence.

In the continuation of this statement, it is stated: Islam is a religion of peace and Muslims, including in Pakistan, believe in respecting all religions, so everyone should support these principles.

Rasmus Paludan, the leader of Denmark’s far-right “Hardline” party, burned a copy of the Koran near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm on Saturday amid heavy police security.

Paludan’s action was strongly condemned by Muslims and Islamic countries, and the Swedish government has also been criticized for not preventing this action.

In this regard, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said: Burning the Koran is an enemy to Islam and Muslims and is not considered personal freedom.

ÇavuÅŸoÄŸlu said: Turkish Ambassador to Sweden also met with Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström and informed him of Turkey’s displeasure about the Swedish government allowing demonstrators to insult the Quran.

The Turkish Foreign Minister stated: Western governments do not allow insulting the books of other religions, but interpret any insult to Muslims and their holy things as freedom of expression.

The Turkish Foreign Minister said: “Despite all our warnings, the Swedish government allowed the burning of the Koran, and this is a crime against Islam and all Muslims in the world.”

Cavusoglu added: Turkish nationals will hold a protest rally in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, and it is necessary for the Swedish government to take necessary measures to prevent the repetition of this crime.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Nasser Kanani strongly condemned the continued desecration of the Holy Quran in European countries, which happened this time in Sweden.

The spokesman of the diplomatic agency added: Repeating the desecration of the holy book of one and a half billion Muslims is a clear example of spreading hatred and promoting violence against all Muslims, and such actions have nothing to do with freedom of speech and opinion.

Kanani emphasized: The public opinion of the Muslim world expects the Swedish government to prevent the repetition of such anti-Islamic behavior and not to let the perpetrators of hurting the feelings of Muslims go unpunished.
