Border tensions between traditional subcontinental rivals Pakistan/Pakistan protested India

Pak Sahafat – The relative peace of about two and a half years in the common and porous borders of Pakistan and India entered a new phase of tension today with the exchange of fire between the forces of the two countries, and Pakistan claims that the civilians of this country were targeted by the Indian forces.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from Pakistani media on Saturday, the border control line in the Kashmir region under the control of this country witnessed a new incident caused by the exchange of fire between Pakistani and Indian forces. This is the latest border tension between the two nuclear-armed South Asian countries in the last two and a half years.

In a statement, the Pakistani army accused India of violating the ceasefire and said that 2 Pakistani civilians were killed in today’s incident, and the strong protest in Islamabad has also been transferred to New Delhi.

The commanders of the military operations of the Pakistani and Indian armies, during an unprecedented phone call, pledged to strictly adhere to all agreements, understandings and border ceasefire agreements along the Line of Control and other parts of the border.

According to this report, the public relations of the Pakistani army issued a statement a few hours ago and announced that the Indian forces fired for no reason towards the Pakistani territory, as a result of which two Pakistani civilians were killed and another person was seriously injured.

Pakistan Army Public Relations in its statement today claimed that India is using a new geopolitical patronage to target innocent lives and make false accusations.

The history of the old disputes between the subcontinental rivals

After independence in 1947, Pakistan and India are involved in a dispute called Kashmir. This conflict has caused three wars between the two countries, including the 1965 war, the Kargil battle and the Siachen battle.

India claims the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir and until 2010, controlled 43% of the region. India controls the regions of Jammu, Ladakh, Kashmir Valley and Siachen Glacier.

In the middle of August 2019, New Delhi canceled the special privileges of the Jammu and Kashmir region, and this issue angered the government officials in Islamabad.

The National Security Committee of Pakistan, in response to this plan of the Indian government, stopped all commercial relations and economic activities between the two countries, along with an unprecedented reduction in the level of diplomatic relations.

Since then, Pakistan and India, as traditional rivals in South Asia, lack ambassadors in each other’s capitals, and the embassies of the two countries also work with a reduced level of diplomats.
