The resolution “strongly opposes” the invasion of Ukraine and condemns the decision by Russian President Vladimir Putin to prepare its nuclear forces.

The resolution says the United Nations strongly regrets Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The resolution also calls on Russia to immediately stop using force against Ukraine and to withdraw all its troops from Ukraine immediately, completely and unconditionally.

The resolution also condemns Russia’s announcement on February 24 to launch a “special military operation” in Ukraine and emphasizes that ownership of a territory by force and threat is illegal.

The resolution also expresses concern over reports of attacks on civilian areas, such as schools, hospitals, and so on.

Coinciding with the adoption of this resolution and the end of February, Russia’s rotating presidency of the UN Security Council ended. The UAE will chair the UN Security Council in March.

Guterres: End hostilities now

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters shortly after the resolution was adopted: A total of 141 countries voted in favor of an immediate withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.

The UN Secretary General said: The message of the General Assembly is quite clear. End hostilities now. Open in diplomacy and dialogue.

Guttierez added: Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in line with the UN Charter must be respected. The situation in Ukraine is a time bomb.

The UN Secretary General added that I am also very concerned about the possible impact of the war in Ukraine on regional and world peace and security. Today’s decree shows a fact. The world wants an end to the widespread human suffering in Ukraine.

“I will do my best to end the hostilities immediately and to hold peace talks immediately,” he said. The people of Ukraine desperately need peace, and the people of the world demand it.

Abdullah Shahid: The resolution shows the international community’s deep concern over the situation in Ukraine

“Today’s resolution shows concern,” said Abdullah Shahid, chairman of the UN General Assembly, which chaired a three-day special session on the Ukraine crisis.

The international community is deeply concerned about the situation in Ukraine and emphasizes the call for an immediate ceasefire, unhindered access to humanitarian aid, a return to negotiation and diplomacy.

He added: The resolution also calls for an end to the use of force and the complete withdrawal of the Russian military from Ukraine, and refers to the principles set out in the UN Charter. I express concern about attacks on civilian facilities such as residential areas, schools and hospitals.

America: The world unanimously condemned Russia’s unreasonable war

Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US ambassador to the United Nations, said after the vote: Today, the world unanimously condemned Russia’s unwarranted war. We criticized Belarus for agreeing to use its territory to invade Ukraine.

He said that we emphasized the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We have shown that Russia is lonely and isolated. We must make every effort to help the Ukrainian people and hold Russia accountable, and to put our statements into action.

Ukraine: The UN is still alive

“Ukraine’s ambassador and representative to the United Nations, Sergei Kislysa, said after the vote: The United Nations is still alive. The Ukrainian people now have more confidence in the United Nations. The vote is a strong message to Russia.

This is a Russian crisis, not a Ukrainian crisis, because the only country that has started it is Russia. We will rebuild Ukraine. People’s lives are important now.

Russia: Resolution will not stop our military operations

Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations said before the vote on the resolution that it was due to heavy Western pressure on UN members. This resolution will not stop our military operations.

The representative of the Putin government added: The representative of Ukraine did not mention the mentality of the Nazis in this country. We have tried to end the 8-year war against the people of Donbas. Donbass area continues to be bombed. We do not attack civilian areas. This draft is an attempt to show the heroism of those who have violated international law in the past decade in various cases, including the coup in Ukraine.

UAE: We are concerned about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine

The Ambassador and Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations also said in a speech: The situation in Ukraine has reached a critical point. The international community is concerned about the situation on the ground in Ukraine, and this is the result of today’s vote.

He clarified: The UAE is concerned about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Our collective effort must prevent further humanitarian deterioration in Ukraine.

Syria: The resolution has a unilateral approach and is a means of political pressure

Bassam Sabbagh, Syria’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations also said: Today’s resolution clearly has a one-sided approach and is political propaganda and a means of political pressure.

He added that those who drafted the resolution had used a hostile tone against Russia to downplay a position based on legitimate security concerns.

The representative of Bashar al-Assad’s government continued: “This resolution is a very clear dervish.” If Russia and its allies were serious about peace, they would have lived up to their commitments three decades ago, and they would have had to put pressure on Ukraine to live up to its commitments under the Minsk agreement.

He stated that the resolution was accompanied by a large-scale media campaign to spread false news. Those who today seek to defend the UN Charter should have taken a similar action against the Israeli occupation of Arab lands. So what about the US violation of Syria’s territorial sovereignty?

Following the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on the Ukraine crisis, Iran’s representative to the UN said: The resolution submitted to the General Assembly lacks the element of neutrality and realistic mechanisms for resolving the issue through peaceful means, and not all members of the United Nations have had the opportunity to participate in the drafting of this resolution.

He added in a speech: The Islamic Republic is following the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine with deep concern.

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations stated: War and conflict that cause damage to the lives of people and civilian infrastructure are not accepted wherever they occur. The Islamic Republic of Iran calls for an immediate end to the violence and a reduction in tensions in the current conflict. In this regard, Iran emphasizes the need to discuss the concerns of all parties in order to achieve lasting results.

He continued: We believe that the resolution presented to the General Assembly lacks the element of neutrality and realistic mechanisms for resolving the issue through peaceful means. In addition, not all members of the United Nations have had the opportunity to participate in the drafting of this resolution.

The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations continued: It should be emphasized that the General Assembly is not in a position to determine the existence of an act of aggression. In addition to Article 39 of the Charter, General Assembly Resolution 3314 of 14 December 1974 delegated this to the Security Council.

He clarified: In addition, the convening of an emergency meeting of the General Assembly pursuant to Resolution 377 of the Assembly should not be considered as the end of the debate.

The senior diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations stated: Based on the above reasons, the Board of the Islamic Republic of Iran abstained from voting on the resolution contained in document L.1.
