The results of the Lebanese elections will surprise the world

The political analyst and editor of the Lebanese newspaper Al-Diar stated that the only way out of the current crisis in the country is to pay attention to the East: The results of the Lebanese elections will surprise the world.

Pak Sahafat News Agency, International Group – Lebanon is witnessing parliamentary elections today, Sunday, May 16th, in which more than 700 candidates are vying for 128 seats. Voting for the first and second rounds of the election took place on May 6 and 7 outside Lebanon and in various countries. On this occasion, the correspondent of Media had an interview with “Rezwan Al-Dhib”, a political analyst and editor of the Lebanese newspaper Al-Diar, who said:

Q: How do you assess the upcoming elections in Lebanon? Will this issue fill the political vacuum in this country?

According to the law, Lebanese parliamentary elections are held every four years with the aim of reviving political and legal life and transferring power, it is natural that holding parliamentary elections is a key point in bridging the political vacuum, and it also makes Lebanon go through the most dangerous stage in its history since independence, especially in the economic arena and the difficult situation that the Lebanese people are going through these days. The only way out of the current difficult situation is the implementation of the constitution, which is primarily about holding parliamentary elections, then forming a government and electing a president. If this is done, it will be the beginning of Lebanon’s exit from the numerous crises in order to fight corruption and widespread reforms. Holding parliamentary elections on time will be a major blow to the United States and the Zionist enemy and the reactionary Arab countries, which are trying to create chaos in Lebanon, but these efforts are in the shadow of the existence of Hezbollah and its allies who maintain the country and security and emphasize its stability, it will not work.

Q: In recent months, we have witnessed the efforts of some political parties and foreign countries, including France, the United States and Saudi Arabia, to postpone the elections. What is the purpose of these measures?

Undoubtedly, the direct interference of some foreign countries in the Lebanese parliamentary elections, especially by Washington, Paris and Riyadh, has come to an end, and Saudi Arabia has paid millions of dollars to the Lebanese forces, the Progressive Socialist Party and some Sunni groups, even the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid al-Bukhari, is openly and directly involved in the elections, visiting the constituencies and meeting with the candidates, he also pressed Lebanese Mufti Abdul Latif Daryan to encourage Sunnis to disobey Saad al-Hariri’s decision to boycott the election. All the efforts of the Saudi ambassador are aimed at preventing Hezbollah from increasing its influence in Lebanon.

The US ambassador to Beirut, Dorty Shea, has also taken charge of what he calls “civil society” and holds meetings inside the Washington embassy in Lebanon, sponsoring millions of dollars. As a result of this support, civil society and Lebanese forces and progressive socialist candidates have occupied television networks and billboards, bringing the cost to $ 40 million, even the Lebanese forces have even spent $ 10 million to provoke public opinion through social media, these forces have entered a campaign under the slogan “Disarmament of the Resistance and Prevention of Iranian Interference”, while all Lebanese public opinion and world embassies in Beirut know that Iran will never interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs, and the media has never published a comment from the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon indicating that the country is interfering in Lebanon’s internal elections, while the US and Saudi ambassadors have repeatedly made intervening remarks.

Q: In addition to creating deterrence in the periphery of Lebanon due to entering the Lebanese economic issue and trying to solve problems in this area, Hezbollah has become more and more popular. What will be the position of Hezbollah parliamentary faction and resistance in this election?

What is important is that foreign support for the March 14 protests and civil society organizations in Lebanon will never affect Lebanese public opinion. Polls show that Lebanese Hezbollah and its allies will win a majority in the Lebanese parliament, which is what the US and Saudi embassies have recently tried to do to interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs and postpone the elections so Hezbollah and its allies should not be at the forefront of the election results but Hezbollah and its allies have thwarted all foreign conspiracies and set the stage for elections.

As I said before, the US ambassador’s involvement in Beirut’s internal affairs in Lebanon needs no reason, but its intervention has failed thanks to the resistance and its allies, Washington is well aware of the strength of the resistance in Lebanon, a resistance that has thwarted all US conspiracies to internationalize the Lebanese crisis and hold elections under the auspices of international organizations and the United Nations, and the election results, God willing. It will be a surprise and, while emphasizing the power of Hezbollah and its presence in Lebanon, it will be a strong blow to Washington and Riyadh, which have always tried to destabilize Lebanon and strike at the resistance.

The results of the polls show that Hezbollah and its allies are leading in the upcoming elections. I believe that Hezbollah won 370,000 votes in the previous elections, and in the current elections this number will reach 500,000, and this is what worries Saudi Arabia and the United States. The victory of Hezbollah and its allies in the current elections will dispel all foreign claims that the Lebanese crisis is due to the existence of Hezbollah and its weapons and Iranian interference.

Q: What will the electricity crisis and Lebanon’s economic challenges look like in the future?

Lebanon is suffering from a severe crisis, a high debt crisis and the collapse of the banking sector, and as a result, it will be almost impossible to resolve problems related to electricity, water and inflation through domestic measures, and as stated by Lebanese Hezbollah Secretary General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, if the country does not turn east, it will be impossible to get out of the current Lebanese crisis, so Beirut will have to turn to Iran, Russia and China to resolve its challenges. During a recent visit to Beirut by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, Iran proposed to Lebanese officials that two large-scale power plants be built, but Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati opposed the plan for fear of US punishment. Therefore, if Hezbollah and its allies win the current elections and take the majority of seats in parliament, they will consider the option of focusing on the East, because this is the only way out of the current crisis in Lebanon.
