Aims and motives of Ansarullah drone attack on Saudi oil facilities in the midst of Ukraine crisis

In his new article, Atwan examines the behind-the-scenes and targets of Ansarullah drone strikes on Saudi oil facilities in the midst of the Ukraine crisis and its impact on the oil market.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency International Group, In the midst of the Ukraine crisis and its consequences for the oil market, two days ago the Yemeni Ansarullah movement targeted Saudi oil facilities with nine drones.

A spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, Yahya Sari, said that the first operation “breaking the siege” was carried out on Thursday morning, in response to increased attacks by the Saudi-Emirati aggressor coalition and the prevention of the import of petroleum products into Yemen.

The first operation to break the siege was carried out by nine drones, including three Samad-3 drones, during which Aramco Oil Company was targeted in Riyadh. Also, Aramco structures were attacked in Jizan and Abha areas and other sensitive centers with 6 Samad-1 UAVs.

In his new article, Abdul Bari Atwan, editor of the trans-regional newspaper Rai Al-Youm and a well-known analyst in the Arab world, examines this issue and announces: The attack on Saudi oil facilities in Riyadh and the two cities of Jizan and Abha in southern Saudi Arabia was carried out by nine UAVs sent by Ansarullah, while the world is engaged in the Ukraine crisis, carrying a strong message to the United States and its Arab and European allies. “The Yemenis are ready to go to war based on their own interests, especially to lift the siege of the country and defeat the American axis.”

Atwan added: Focusing on the timing element chosen by the Ansarullah movement to attack Saudi oil facilities, we examine the situation and focus on three points:

The first is that the attack on Aramco, a backbone of the Saudi oil industry, comes at a time when oil prices are rising at an all-time high of $ 140 a barrel, and a record $ 200 is expected soon.

The second point is the participation of Saudi Special Forces in the US intelligence operation to free two American girls (Yemeni origin) from a secret place in Sanaa and transfer them to Aden and from there to Riyadh, which is a violation of Sanaa security.

Human rights organizations react to the execution of 81 people in Saudi Arabia

The third point is the execution of 81 people, including a group affiliated with Ansarullah, consisting of seven people accused of “terrorism” by Saudi officials, which was announced on Saturday.

This article added, What seems certain is that the first point is that the Saudi oil facilities were targeted by drones and the drones hit their targets precisely and the Riyadh refinery was set on fire, the most important and powerful element behind the Ansarullah message to destabilize the oil market and thwart efforts. The United States is pushing for lower prices by putting pressure on its allies in the Persian Gulf, especially Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Atwan continued, Of course, this does not mean denying the importance of the other two points, namely the operation to free two American girls from Sanaa and the execution of a group affiliated with Ansarullah, and the Yemenis will take revenge on their victims, whether they belong to the Ansarullah movement or not. Because of the courage that we remember from the Yemenis, they do not remain silent in the face of this oppression. In this regard, a well-informed and high-ranking Yemeni source confirmed this issue and told us: If we do not act now and do not take advantage of this critical world situation and try to lift the siege of the Yemeni people, then when will we act? So do not be surprised if we do a larger operation in the not-too-distant days and weeks.

Abdul Bari Atwan clarified, The Yemeni Ansarullah movement may have announced its intention to join the Russian camp at this time, with the attack on the Saudi oil facilities, although it is too early to comment. Especially since Moscow, due to its coordination with Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the oil case, has taken a neutral position in the Yemeni war from the very beginning.

This article added: The Saudi statement about Ansarullah’s drone attack on the Aramco oil facility stating that the attack did not close the refinery and resulted in only a small fire does not deny a fact, whether true or not; That is, the Yemeni drones were able to pass through the Saudi defense systems in the capital, which was supposed to be more efficient.
