Human rights organizations react to the execution of 81 people in Saudi Arabia

Some human rights organizations have condemned the execution of 81 people in Saudi Arabia.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency International Group, The Democratic Organization for the Arab World (Dawn) has now condemned the execution of 81 people in Saudi Arabia, calling it the largest and most unprecedented mass execution.

Sarah Lee Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, said: “Unprecedented mass executions, as well as bogus trials in Saudi Arabia, have exposed the false claims of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about reforms in the country.”

He added: “Respect for Muhammad bin Salman makes him more impudent. One of his actions is to kill dozens of his citizens in one day.”

In response to the Saudi government’s move, some social media activists called on Muslims and free people around the world to condemn the crime and protest against the two governments’ double standards in dealing with crime and murder.

Political figures and groups in Islamic countries also strongly condemned the mass executions of 81 people in Saudi Arabia, many of them on trumped-up charges of terrorism and delusion.

The number of people executed on Saturday is much higher than the 67 executed in Saudi Arabia in 2021 and 27 in 2020.

This mass execution darkens Saudi Arabia’s human rights record.

Human rights groups have accused Saudi Arabia of enforcing laws restricting political and religious freedom of expression, and have criticized the country for imposing the death penalty, including on those arrested as teenagers.

The Saudi Interior Ministry announced on Saturday that it had executed more than 80 people in one day on charges of “terrorism and committing various crimes”.

According to the Saudi Interior Ministry, these misguided people are followers of the devil and misguided and deviant thoughts such as foreign dependence and betrayal of the country, and they have committed terrorist acts.

Saudi news sources reported that 41 of those executed were Shiites from Qatif. Saudi Arabia occasionally executes large numbers of Al Saud dissidents on false pretenses and allegations of terrorism.

Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr, a prominent Saudi Shiite cleric, was one of the country’s most prominent political prisoners, executed in 2015 for criticizing Al-Saud and acting against the country’s national security.
