Why are the Arab countries turning their policy towards Syria?

The latest reports indicate that Arab countries are trying to get closer to Damascus, and Foreign Policy has published accounts of these efforts following the announcement of the Syrian election results (May 26).

The publication revealed that Arab countries are lobbying with Washington to find a way to reduce sanctions against Damascus.

The American publication claims that the goal of the Arab countries is to cut off Iran’s influence in Syria and to lift the sanctions against Damascus, and that they are willing to bear the costs of rebuilding Syria in order to do business with the Damascus government.

But is this really the reason for the Arab governments’ backwardness towards Syria, as Foreign Policy has analyzed, and the Arabs have imagined that Damascus will abandon its most reliable ally and supporter, the Axis of Resistance, by promising the cost of reconstruction, or the reason? What else should be considered for this retreat of the Arab capitals?

Perhaps the most plausible reason for this setback is that the Arab states are linked to the sunken claws of the old ally, Turkey, on Syrian soil, which is now occupying parts of northern Syria without any reason and without permission and in complete violation of international law and apparently has no plans to leave these areas.

So to clarify the issue we have to go back a bit; the day the Arabs of the Persian Gulf launched the project to overthrow Bashar al-Assad, they did not think that they would have nothing left from the cake of this project; The Americans are pushing for oil and Turkey in parts of northern Syria, so after making sure their hats are off.

These days, the Arabs have realized that the territorial integrity of Syria has no guarantee except with the powerful Assad government, and those above all are the ones who have written the scenario for the territory of this country.

Elsewhere, Foreign Policy argues that “until a few years ago, Assad was an unacceptable figure in the Arab world, but now his situation has completely improved.”

Founded by the famous American theorist Samuel Huntington, the magazine forgot that just two weeks ago, the United States and European governments in a sharp statement called the Syrian election illegitimate and condemned it, and at the same time did not comment on the improved situation.

The American publication goes on to claim that “Arab countries, especially the countries of the Persian Gulf, express their sympathy with Syria,” which does not explain how those who witnessed the suffering of a nation for 10 years suddenly became sympathetic? These are the countries that have spent a lot of money to overthrow the legitimate government of Syria and have supported dreaded terrorist groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda and Al-Nusra, and even the Free Army.

It is quite understandable why the Arab governments have started withdrawing from the Syrian crisis? The victory of the Syrian government with the help of the axis of resistance against dozens of terrorist groups, especially ISIS, al-Qaeda and Al-Nusra, and the recapture of more than 80% of the country’s territory is the first reason that has disappointed the Arabs.

Another is that they seem to have smelled kebabs and hope to regain the lost position by participating in the reconstruction of Syria, and it seems that the best way to return is to tempt the Syrian government through oil wealth.

But in the meantime, one point should not be overlooked, and that is the deep concern that has gripped the Arabs over Turkey’s role in Syria. It seems that the Turks were not supposed to anchor in northern Syria at the beginning of the road in 2011.

In addition, the unbalanced and complex game of the Americans in Syria has frightened the Arabs of the possibility of the disintegration of this country.

This is how the Arabs seem to have come to the conclusion that they have lost their hatred in the case of Syria, and now they have to make up for it in any way possible.
