Sana’a: We were on the verge of exchanging 1,400 prisoners/ mercenaries threw stones

Pak Sahafat – Abdul Qadir Al-Mortaza, the head of the National Salvation Government of Yemen’s Prisoners’ Committee, announced that the mercenaries were pelting stones during the implementation of the agreement for the exchange of 1,400 prisoners and added that they are abusing the case of prisoners and are not serious about the issue of exchange.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, the head of the Yemeni prisoners’ committee in the National Salvation government emphasized in an interview with al-Masira news channel: A month ago, Sana’a and the Saudi coalition were on the verge of agreeing on the exchange of 1,400 prisoners, but mercenaries threw stones.

He said: The government of Sana’a announced to the mercenaries that it is not against the joining of “Mohammed Qahtan”, one of the leaders of the Islah party, to the new agreement on the exchange of prisoners, and in return, it will release a group of their prisoners, but the mercenaries did not accept this issue.

Al-Mortaza continued: The mercenaries abuse the case of prisoners to extort money and are not serious about the issue of exchange.

The head of the Prisoners’ Committee of the National Salvation Government of Yemen continued to deny any reports about the torture of prisoners near Sana’a.

The exchange of 1,400 prisoners is the subject of the next round of Yemeni negotiations

He stated: The enemy’s claims of torturing their prisoners are to cover up their crimes against Yemeni prisoners. We have documents that show that they committed crimes and tortured Yemeni prisoners.

Al-Mortaza further asked all international organizations to take immediate action and visit all prisons.

The head of the prisoners’ committee of the National Salvation Government of Yemen said that if mutual visits are made to the prisons, the mercenaries are worried that the way they treat the prisoners will be exposed.

He added: The position of the United Nations regarding the detection of crimes against prisoners is weak and so far we have not felt any movement in this direction, because the case of the prisoners is still pending and this organization does not put any pressure on the aggressors and mercenaries to implement the agreements made.

According to this report, so far about 900 prisoners have been exchanged between the conflicting parties in Yemen.

Last month, talks were held between the government of Sana’a and the resigned government of Yemen in Oman to exchange prisoners, but these talks ended without results.

A coalition of several Arab countries launched massive attacks against Yemen under the pretext of returning the resigned government of Yemen to power, but these countries did not achieve their goals after 7 years and were forced to accept a ceasefire.
