Qatar: We do not see any benefit in establishing relations with Israel

The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman, while emphasizing his country’s readiness to mediate between Hamas and the United States, stated that Qatar does not see any benefit in establishing relations with the Zionist regime.

In an interview with the Russian news agency Sputnik, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lulu al-Khatir said today (Tuesday) that Qatar, like its neighbors in the region, including Bahrain and the UAE, was asked about Qatar’s desire to establish relations with the Zionist regime but the Qatar sees no benefit in establishing relations with the Zionist regime.

In September 2020, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, with the mediation of the then US government led by Donald Trump, signed a compromise agreement with the occupying regime in Jerusalem known as the “Abraham Accords” and formally established diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv.

Al-Khater then referred to the 12-day Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem and stated that Qatar intends to pay for the reconstruction of 45,000 destroyed houses in the Gaza Strip within the next six months.

A Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson further explained: “The aid mechanism to the Gaza Strip has been coordinated by the United Nations and Israel has not opposed it in recent years. Regarding the latest decision (to rebuild the Gaza Strip infrastructure), the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in coordination with our Palestinian brothers and special international partners, including the United Nations, will ensure that this budget is used to meet the needs of the Palestinians or most of them will be used for the reconstruction of destroyed residential buildings within the next five to six months, and 45,000 residential buildings in the Gaza Strip are to be rebuilt and restored.”

According to the report, the Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson also announced her country’s readiness to mediate between Hamas and the United States as part of the talks.

Al-Khater said in this regard: “Whenever requested, Qatar is ready to mediate, and this is because it believes in the importance of the role of mediator for international peace and stability.”

The Qatari diplomat while announcing her country’s readiness to mediate between Hamas and the United States said that, recently, Khaled Mashaal, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement, said in an interview that although Hamas is ready for talks with the United States, it will not give in to its conditions.

The 12-day war began on May 10, when the deadline for resistance to the Zionist regime to end the aggression in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque came to an end.

Palestinian Resistance fired more than 4,000 rockets at occupied Palestine, prompting Israeli military officials to acknowledge the weakness of the Iron Dome in intercepting and destroying Palestinian resistance rockets.

In response to its failure to stop the rocket and missile capabilities of Palestinian resistance groups, the Zionist regime launched brutal and blind attacks on civilians, residential buildings, and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

As a result of these attacks, 255 Palestinians were martyred, including 66 children, 39 women and 17 elderly people, and more than 1948 people were injured.
