Hamas official: It was the resistance missiles that drove the US Secretary of State into the region

Coinciding with the new US Secretary of State’s first visit to occupied Palestine, the deputy head of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said it was the resistance missiles that drove him into the region.

Musa Abu Marzouk, deputy head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) outside Palestine, spoke to Al Jazeera on Tuesday evening about US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to Tel Aviv.

During his first visit to occupied Palestine yesterday, the US Secretary of State met with senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Abu Marzouq said in this regard: “The political settlement between the Palestinians and the Zionists is not a priority in US plans, and what brought Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to the region are the resistance missiles that targeted Tel Aviv.”

The Hamas vice president outside Palestine added that the purpose of the US administration’s visit was to try to transform the scene of resistance victories and revive a political solution; half season that died a few years ago.

He went on to say that resistance missiles changed many equations. “The Palestinian people are tired of the status quo and have come to the conclusion that nothing will change without a comprehensive resistance and intifada.”

Musa Abu Marzouq also emphasized: America itself is part of the problem. The Palestinian people are being killed by American weapons, and the destruction that took place in Gaza was carried out by American fighter jets and missiles.” The United States is acting only in the interests of Israel in the Middle East.

Elsewhere, the senior Hamas member referring that the United States and Israel had no authority to determine how aid would enter Gaza, said: “We welcome anyone who tries to develop the [Gaza Strip].”

At the end of his remarks, Abu Marzouq noted that Egypt had sent an invitation to Hamas and that a delegation headed by its leader, Ismail Haniyeh, would travel to Cairo next week to discuss the issue of rebuilding Gaza.
