Activists protesting Yemen siege go on hunger strike: “US is complicit in Saudi Arabia”

Anti-war activists go on hunger strike in Washington to raise public awareness of Saudi-led siege of Yemen.

They sat on a lawn outside the southern courtyard of the White House, Iman Saleh said, adding that he had a simple demand: that the United States end its complicity in the siege of Yemen.

Saleh and his colleagues, all from the Detroit area, went on a hunger strike in Washington this week, calling for the siege to be lifted. After days without food, they looked completely tired but eager to get their message across.

They hold Yemeni banners and flags near the White House fence and enthusiastically answer questions from curious passersby.

Saleh said: “The siege is violent. It is cruel and inhumane.” “We are talking about the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world. This is unique. Yemen is currently the poorest country in the Arab world and one of the poorest in the world.”
