Zionist night attack on Sheikh Jarrah; 20 Palestinians were injured

A number of Zionist settlers, with the support of the regime’s police, attacked the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem last night and clashed with the residents of this neighborhood.

Zionist settlers attacked Palestinian homes and vehicles in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem last night, and as the clashes escalated, Israeli police blocked all roads leading to the neighborhood.

According to “Arabi 21” news website, following the attack of the settlers on the Palestinian property, fierce clashes took place between the Palestinian youth and the settlers on “1” street near Sheikh Jarah neighborhood and the Zionists damaged a number of vehicles.

The Zionists also set fire to the house of the martyr “Omar al-Qasim” on “Osman bin Affan” street in this neighborhood.

A similar clash took place in the occupied Jerusalem town of Al-Issawiyah between Zionist militants and Palestinians, and Palestinian youths hurled improvised explosive devices at Zionist militants in response to continuous firing of Zionist tear gas and sound bombs.

According to the report, Bezal Joel Smotrich, the leader of the far-right party known as “Religious Zionism”, was also present in last night’s attack on the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

According to the Palestinian media, the Zionist official last night met with a number of settlers who had occupied Palestinian homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and tried to attack the house of the Al-Kurd family in this neighborhood, which was resisted by the people of this neighborhood.

In response to the aggression against Sheikh Jarrah, Palestinian Minister of Quds Affairs Fadi al-Hudami warned that the occupying police and settlers against defenseless Palestinians in the neighborhood was a dangerous escalation and that the situation would worsen due to the international community’s silence.

He told a news conference that the aggression of the settlers was intensifying with the cooperation of the occupying police, who are imposing a siege on the Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah, and said that the Palestinians will never accept to pay for the right-wing clashes inside and outside the occupying government.

Al-Hidami stated that during last night’s clashes in Sheikh Jarrah, brutal crimes were committed with the participation of police forces and extremist Zionists, during which at least 20 Palestinians from the neighborhood were injured. These crimes are carried out with the aim of expelling the Palestinians by force, and the international community must stop these aggressions without delay and promptly, and provide international support to the Palestinian people.

On the other hand, Palestinian activists have launched a campaign to change the Hebrew names of streets and streets in Palestinian neighborhoods with the hashtag “Our Palestinian streets” (our Palestinian streets).

Al-Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has recently become a scene of clashes between Palestinian youth and Zionist militias following threats and attacks by the Zionists to evacuate the houses in this neighborhood and evict Palestinians from their homes.

So far, the occupiers have threatened 28 Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah with forced relocation and the handover of their homes to settlements. The Zionist regime’s decision to expel the residents of the “Sheikh Jarrah” neighborhood and hand it over to the Jews in recent months has caused a wave of condemnation and international criticism. This issue, along with the Zionist attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque, is one of the main factors in starting the 12-day war in Gaza. Due to these reactions, the Zionist regime has delayed the execution of its court order regarding this neighborhood.
