Yemen’s Ansarullah: Biden got off to a good start / The US plan is a “step forward” towards peace

Yemen’s Ansarullah called the move a “step forward” in achieving peace in Yemen in response to the US government’s decision to remove the group from the list of “terrorist” organizations.

“The new US administration has had a good start and has fulfilled all its promises,” said Abdullah Hajar, an adviser to the head of Yemen’s Ansarullah High Political Council.

He added: “The validity of these US decisions will be proven only if they are implemented and the war is stopped and the siege of the Yemeni people is lifted.”

Hajar added that removing Ansarullah from the “terrorism” list is a step towards peace. If the US government really wants peace, the US special envoy must step in and engage with all parties.

Earlier, a State Department official said Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had told Congress that the president intended to remove Yemeni Ansarullah from the list of “terrorist” groups.

“After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that the Secretary of State intends to remove the Ansarullah group from foreign and international” terrorist “organizations,” Reuters quoted the official as saying.

He added: “The reason for this action is entirely due to the humanitarian consequences of calling Ansarullah a terrorist, which was adopted at the last moment by the previous government; the consequences that the United Nations and humanitarian organizations have since declared will be the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world.
