Widespread demonstrations in the city of Saada in support of the Yemeni Ansarullah

Thousands of people took to the streets in the northern Yemeni city of Saada to protest the US call the Ansarullah movement a terrorist organization.

Thousands of people took to the streets in northern Yemen today (Monday) following a previous call to condemn the US government’s crackdown on the Ansarullah movement and a number of its leaders.

According to the Al-Masira website, similar rallies in support of the Ansarullah movement are scheduled to take place today in 15 different Yemeni provinces, including the capital.

Demonstrators in Saada, holding placards condemning the US government’s action against the Saudi coalition, called the Ansarullah movement a Yemeni national militant group.

In a statement, the people of Saada also described the Yemeni war in the first place as an American aggression, stating that the first and most important military and political supporter of the Saudi coalition is the US government, which is responsible for the genocide of the Yemeni people.

The statement stressed that calling Ansarullah a terrorist is a sign of US defeat in Yemen: “If the actions of the Saudi and American aggressors are not terrorist and criminal, then what is the meaning of crime and terrorism?” “Al-Qaeda and ISIS are fighting in Yemen with the support of the aggressor countries.”

The demonstrators also stated that the period of foreign domination over Yemen is over and the aggressor countries should be disappointed with the return of their domination over Yemen.

On his last day in office, former US President Donald Trump’s Treasury Department added the Yemeni Ansarullah movement, along with three of its leaders, to its sanctions list.

However, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken recently said that Washington would reconsider declaring the Yemeni Ansarullah movement a terrorist organization.
