Who is “Sami Jasem” and how was he arrested?

International – Pak Sahafat – Two years after the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the ISIS terrorist group, Sami Jassim al-Jubouri, his successor and deputy, was arrested earlier this week in a complex operation by Iraqi intelligence and security forces.

According to the Pak Sahafat, the news of the arrest of the well-known terrorist, who was his deputy before al-Baghdadi was assassinated in November 1998, was announced by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, indicating the importance of trapping ISIS leaders and closely monitoring political officials and Iraqi army is there to eliminate the thinking of the takfiri groups in this country.

Al-Kazemi tweeted for the first time on Monday the arrest of the successor to the ousted ISIL leader and the terrorist group’s financial and economic director, and wrote that Jassim al-Jubouri, the deputy leader of the ISIL terrorist group, had been arrested outside the country.

Coinciding with al-Kadhimi’s tweet and the news of the arrest of the deputy leader of ISIL, the Iraqi security media group also published images and videos of the arrest and transfer of Jassim al-Jubouri, the current head of ISIL’s financial and economic affairs.

Who is Sami Al-Jubouri?

“Sami Jassim Mohammed Ja’ata al-Ajuz al-Jubouri” was the deputy leader of ISIL until the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIL, when former US President Donald Trump announced his death on November 26, 2019, in a White House speech.

Trump had said in the speech that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been killed “inside a tunnel, weeping and wailing like a dog and a coward.”

He added that US Special Forces killed the ISIS leader in a special operation in northwestern Syria.

Now, about two years after the death of the ISIS leader, his deputy, who is said to be in charge of the group’s financial and economic affairs, has been arrested.

Sami Jassim Muhammad Ja’ata al-Ajuz al-Jubouri, the arrested terrorist, is also known by the nicknames “Abu Hamid”, “Abu Asia” and “Abu Abdul Qadir al-Zubaidi”

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi said without elaborating on the location of the arrest that Iraqi national intelligence agents arrested Sami Jassim al-Jubouri in a complex overseas operation.

This person is one of the most important internationally wanted terrorists and figures close to the Central Council of ISIL and one of the closest people to “Abu Ibrahim Al-Hashimi”, the current leader of ISIL.

The US government had previously offered a $ 5 million reward for information leading to the capture of Sami Jassim al-Jubouri, one of the most dangerous leaders in ISIL.

The Iraqi security media group issued a statement after the arrest of Sami al-Jubouri, saying that he was in charge of the financial and economic affairs of the ISIS terrorist group and that he was arrested in a special “overseas operation” by the Iraqi National Intelligence Service.

Abu Asia held important security and financial responsibilities, including the successor to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and was in charge of the so-called “Treasury Bureau” and the “Deputy Governor of the Tigris” in ISIL.

Despite having a wife and four children, Sami al-Jubouri had taken three Yazidi women as slaves and sexually abused them.

ISIS terrorist Sami al-Jubouri pledged allegiance to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in 2004.

He was arrested by US forces in Iraq in February 2005 after joining al-Qaeda and spent five years in Boka prison, where he was released in 2010.

Sami al-Jubouri went to Syria with al-Baghdadi’s decree and was appointed emir of the Diwan al-Rukaz, who was then elected al-Baghdadi’s second deputy and emir of the treasury in the ISIS terrorist group.

From 2019 until the arrest of al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIL, until his arrest, he was the director general of “Sham Province” and the director of “ISIL economic and financial files” in this terrorist organization.

Sami al-Jubouri was a senior al-Qaeda operative in Iraq and Syria before joining ISIS.

Sami Jassim al-Jubouri, about 60 years old, was born in the Iraqi city of Mosul.

He has been instrumental in the sale of oil, minerals and antiquities stolen from museums and archeological sites in Iraq and Syria.

The US Treasury placed him on its terrorist list in 2015. Sami Jassim was reportedly killed in the summer of 2016 after a joint US-Iraqi Special Forces operation at the al-Qaim border crossing. It was later revealed that he was not present at the scene and that the objectives of the operation had been set incorrectly.
