Wall Street Journal: There is a possibility of forcing Ukraine to accept peace

Pak Sahafat – William Galston, a senior expert at the American think tank Brookings, wrote in a note for the Wall Street Journal: Ukraine may be forced to accept a forced peace after its counterattack.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, quoted by the Wall Street Journal, Galston believes that NATO support for Ukraine will continue until the Ukrainian army returns as much of its occupied territory as possible. However, this position of NATO does not correspond to the goals of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who wishes to return his country to the borders of 1991.

By the end of this year, support for a cease-fire as a first step toward peace talks will be so strong that it could lead to the loss of a large part of Ukraine’s internationally recognized territory, argues the senior Brookings Institution expert.

According to Galston, this is why NATO is preparing agreements on security guarantees for Ukraine.

This expert from the American Brookings think tank considers the reason for this to be the election cycle in the United States, the decrease in Republican support for Ukraine and the possible return of the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, to the White House.

Galston emphasized at the end of this note: If Zelensky doesn’t want to leave his country’s future up to the whims of American voters; he needs to think seriously about the best deal he can make with Russia with the support of his allies while that support remains strong.
