Virginia: When a criminal condemns the action of another criminal!

Pak Sahafat – The United States Federal Court in Virginia convicted Khalifa Haftar, the retired general of Libya, of committing war crimes in all the cases against him.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report today, Al-Arabi Al-Jadid wrote: In a Facebook post, Emad al-Din al-Muntaser, the head of the Democracy and Human Rights Foundation and the lawyer pursuing Haftar’s case, announced the sentencing of “Khalifa Haftar” in the case brought against him by the families of the victims of the Libyan war in the Virginia court (USA).

A Virginia civil court filed a case in which Haftar was accused of committing torture and war crimes in 2016-2017; a case that includes reckless bombings and deliberate killing of civilians and torture of prisoners.

The sentence of conviction of this Libyan general was issued after last Sunday this court rejected the request of Haftar’s lawyer to suspend the hearing of the cases raised under the pretext of reaching an agreement regarding the elections in Libya.

Libyan media in December of last year published a document from the military prosecutor’s office in Misrata, in which the permanent military court in this city sentenced “Haftar” and “Abd al-Razq al-Nazouri”, “Saqr al-Roshi”, “Abd al-Salam al-Hassi”, “Al-Mabruk” to death in absentia. Al-Ghazowi”, “Mohammed Mansour” and “Saad Al-Worfli” issued six other high-ranking officers in the Libyan National Army.

According to these media reports, the case in which Haftar was sentenced to death is related to the bombing of the Air Defense College by the forces of the so-called Libyan National Army in Misrata and the killing of one of the soldiers of this college. In this verdict, in addition to execution, the defendants are permanently deprived of their citizenship rights and dismissed from service.

In their complaints against Haftar, Libyan families accused the retired general’s forces of carrying out attacks that killed 6 members of these families. Their complaint includes a request for compensation up to one billion dollars.

Libya has been facing many challenges since 2011. After the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, the dictator of this country in that year, he faced a civil war and this country was practically divided into two parts by a foreign conspiracy; The “Government of National Unity of Libya” was supported by countries such as Qatar, Turkey, some European countries and the United Nations, and countries such as Egypt, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE also supported the army of Khalifa Haftar, a retired general based in “Benghazi” and “Tobruk”.

Condemning the terrorist acts in Libya that started in 2009, regional experts believe that the main criminals in the Libyan case are the Western countries led by the United States. Countries that have caused 11 years of bloodshed and crime in this Islamic country, and these crimes are still going on.
