Vice President of Trump: Biden gave the Taliban the green signal

Former US Vice President Mike Pence said Biden’s weak foreign policy gave the Taliban the green light to take control of Afghanistan.

Following the strong criticism of US Republicans on the performance of the Democratic administration of Joe Biden towards Afghanistan, the second person of the Donald Trump administration attacked the positions of the current US administration towards Afghanistan and the Taliban.

Former US Vice President Mike Pence, who wrote a note against Biden’s stance last week, said in a new interview that the administration’s “weak” foreign policy gave the Taliban the green light to take control of Afghanistan.

According to Sputnik, the second person in the Donald Trump administration, emphasizing that the foreign policy of the Biden administration was a “humiliating” policy, called the administration’s action in withdrawing American troops from Afghanistan “catastrophic.”

According to the former US vice president, the Taliban seized Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, “knowing that there was no credible threat of use of force (by the Biden government)”.

“(US withdrawal from Afghanistan) is a humiliation in foreign policy, contrary to what our country has experienced since the Iran hostage crisis,” Mike Pence said.

Stating that the Trump and Biden administrations agree on leaving Afghanistan, he stressed the sharp differences between the two administrations on how the United States should leave Afghanistan.

The second person from the Trump administration claimed: “The difference (between us and the Biden administration) was power … (if the Trump administration was in power). You did not see the Taliban invading Kabul.”

“We all want our troops to come home, but this is not the case,” added the former vice president.

Emphasizing the stark contrast between the Trump administration and the Biden administration’s approach to ousting the United States from Afghanistan, the former administration official claimed that the former administration’s talks with the Taliban began after the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani. Mike Pence claimed that the assassination of the martyred commander of the Quds Force made the Trump administration’s threats during the negotiations with the Taliban credible.

He added: “I think what you are seeing from the Biden administration is just an attempt to shift the conversation and shift the blame to someone else, not to mention the (Biden administration)’s poor attempt to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.”

Pence’s remarks came just hours after Biden’s speech at the White House, in which he defended his decision on Afghanistan and announced that he was committed to leaving the country by August 31.
