US Senate approves $ 40 billion bailout package for Ukraine

Pak Sahafat – A few hours ago, the US Senate voted by a majority to advance a $ 40 billion aid package to Ukraine. The senators voted 81 to 11 in favor of ending the debate on the bill, with a final vote scheduled for this week.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency on Tuesday, Hill wrote: The aid package to Ukraine was easily passed in the US House of Representatives last week but was delayed in the Senate by Republican Sen. Rand Paul’s opposition.

Hill wrote: Following the opposition of several prominent Republican figures, including former US President Donald Trump, to the amount of the package, its passage is an important test for Republicans in supporting the continuation of humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine.

Some U.S. senators, including Bill Tengerti of Tennessee, said before the Senate meeting yesterday (Monday) that they would not support the package.

In an interview with Fox News, the US senator said: In fact, I have no animosity towards the Ukrainians and we want them to win, but more aid to this country is not acceptable if we do not take care of our own country, and the best thing to do is to end the war against American industry.

The US House of Representatives has approved $ 40 billion in aid to Ukraine

Trump criticized Congress in a statement Friday for approving a bailout package for Ukraine, especially given its empty store shelves and shortage of powdered milk.

He said: Democrats are sending another $ 40 billion to Ukraine while American parents try to feed their children.

The package was approved by the US House of Representatives by 368 votes to 57. Most of those who voted against the package were Republicans.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters Sunday that the package is likely to pass in the Senate by Wednesday, but there are obstacles that will be removed in the next few days, depending on the cooperation of all 100 senators.

Rand Paul, who is often opposed to US aid packages abroad, delayed talks on the package last week and called for more oversight.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby recently called for the final approval of Washington’s $ 40 billion budget for Ukraine, saying that if the budget is not approved by May 19, Ukraine’s ability to provide “uninterrupted” military weapons will be affected.
