US airstrikes on areas along the Iraqi-Syrian border

The US Department of Defense announced airstrikes on some areas in the Bokmal area on the eastern outskirts of Deir ez-Zor.

The Pentagon said in a statement that the US Air Force had bombed Hashd al Shabi positions at two points in Syria and Iraq.

The Pentagon said the attacks were in response to drone strikes by Iraqi militants on US personnel and facilities in Iraq.

The Pentagon also claimed to have bombed the weapons depots of Iraqi militants.

The Pentagon said in a statement that the airstrikes showed that President Joe biden’s position on protecting Americans was clear.

Earlier, the official Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that there were reports of airstrikes on the Syrian-Iraqi border in the Bokmal area on the eastern outskirts of Deir ez-Zor.

The Sanaa news agency further reported that the country’s border area with Iraq in the farthest eastern suburb of Deir ez-Zor was targeted by airstrikes that killed one child and injured three others, as well as damaging residential houses.

A Sanaa correspondent in Deir ez-Zor quoted local sources as saying that a fighter believed to belong to the United States bombed homes near the Iraqi-Syrian border at around 1am local time.

A Russian security source also quoted an Iraqi security source as saying that he had heard loud explosions near the Syrian-Iraqi border.

He said the source of the explosions was inside Syria.

Some Iraqi sources also told Russia Today that the attack targeted Hashd al Shabi forces on the Iraqi-Syrian border.
