The UN official warned about the deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan and said that with the onset of the cold season and the increase in food and fuel prices, Afghan families must choose between feeding their children and sending them to school, treating them and keeping them warm.

Stating that Afghanistan’s problems are neither new nor unique, this UN official said that the crisis in the country’s situation was caused by the suspension of development aid and the new conditions after the Taliban took over.

He added: In the 21st century, we should not explain why girls’ education and women’s empowerment is important for their society and country, and in fact for the world.
